POLICE are seeking information on the identity of a man who robbed a Raymond Terrace tobacconist last Friday while armed with a knife.
The man remains at large while another, Joshua Wallace of Adelaide Street, Raymond Terrace, has been remanded in custody for the robbery.
Police will allege Wallace, 31, and a second man entered a tobacconist in Terrace Central shopping centre shortly before 8pm on September 18.
It is alleged Wallace stole a BIC cigarette lighter to distract the female shopkeeper while the second man produced a knife.
The man is accused of threatening the woman with the knife and demanding money.
A small amount of cash was handed to the man.
Both men left the store and police were immediately called.
CCTV of the incident was reviewed with police identifying Wallace, who was found in the vicinity of the shopping centre a short time after the robbery, as one of the men involved.
Police will allege Wallace was found with the BIC lighter stolen from the tobacconist.
He was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with robbery while armed.
He appeared in Maitland Local Court on September 19 and Raymond Terrace Local Court on September 21 and he was denied bail. Wallace is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court on November 18.
