Mark A Carter First National Real Estate’s Mark Carter, Ardrossan, conducted the sale on behalf of SK&MR Hayles, and said there had been good interest.

In all there were 222 registered bidders from throughout the YP, Mid North and the Mallee. Phone bidders from NSW and Qld joined in.

“Overall you would have to say it was a pretty successful sale,” Mr Carter said.

It was full clearance for the Hayles while some items offered through other accounts were passed-in.

Mr Carter said the sale was stronger than he had expected, buoyed by the quality of machinery.

“You don’t often find headers and tractors at that good quality,” he said.

“If you look after machinery you do get a dividend at the other end.”

Vendor Stan Hayles was happy with results on the day and said prices were similar to what he had hoped for.

Victoria Park has been leased and Mr Hayles has retired to Adelaide.
