Riverina farmer Helen Dalton has been endorsed as an independent candidate to run a Country Party branded campaign, joining David Mailler in the Northern Tablelands and Ron Pike for the Legislative Council.

Mrs Dalton is a farmer from the small community of Binya and is a board member of the NSW Farmers Association.

“As a farmer and community member I have been dismayed by the political neglect we have endured in recent years. I have lost confidence in the Nationals member.”

“This vision must include improved water availability and management to maximise agricultural production and in turn stimulate economic development to underpin job creation, especially for our young people.”

Mrs Dalton said key objectives for her campaign included water availability, compliance costs for small business, natural resource policies, sustainable logging and National Parks expansion.

Country Party Chairman, Pete Mailler, said, Mrs Dalton was just the sort of candidate they needed.

“The Country Party was looking for a candidate that knew the local community issues and was able to articulate a clear vision for its future. The Country Party is all about enforcing the social contract between politicians and their electorate. We are all sick of the entrenched ‘party before country’ culture that we see in the major parties,” Mr Mailler said.
