IN THE SWIM: Raymond Terrace Water Polo’s Travis McFadden, 16, Liv Pengelly, 15, Gracie Saunders, 11, Lara Berry-Hughes, 12 and Audrey Bell, 12, at Lakeside Leisure Centre’s pool.AHEAD of its season start next month, Raymond Terrace Water Polo Club will hold a come-and-try day next week to entice some new players into joining its ranks.
The club, based at the Lakeside Leisure Centre, was looking to build on last season’s success by fielding sides in the under-14 mixed, under-17 boys and girls, men’s A and B grades and women’s B grade divisions.
“We’re looking for players in all the divisions,” said the club’s registrar Alissa Berry.
Berry said anyone could head along to its try-out from 5.30pm on Monday, September 28.
Prospective players could see if they liked water polo, and if so, could then register.
Berry said the only requirement from those wanting to head along to the event was that they needed to be a confident swimmer.
This season has been made easier for the Raymond Terrace club with the addition of much-needed new timing and scoring equipment, which was bought with $5000 worth of sponsorship from Raymond Terrace Bowling Club.
