GRATEFUL: Representatives from the cheque recipients at the Anna Bay Tavern Fishing Club presentation. Picture: Warren LeadbeatterTHE Anna Bay Tavern Fishing Club was established in 2011 as a social organisation to promote and encourage people to “get out and have fun”.
With more than 100 members, the club is open to singles, couples, families and children, developing community spirit while enjoying a spot of fishing and social get-togethers.
“Competition is held on the last weekend of every month and a weigh-in takes place on the Sunday from noon to 2pm,” said media officer Warren Leadbeatter.
“Points and prizes are awarded for biggest and most fish caught in the men’s, women’s and junior divisions, followed by a barbecue lunch.”
At a recent presentation, the club through its fundraising efforts was able to present cheques of varying amounts to the Anna Bay Public School, the 1st Anna Bay Scouts and Firstchance, a not for profit that operates early childhood intervention programs.
