Of the 70 rams offered, 53 sold to Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, for an average of $1837.
Kanoona Park Australian Whites, Curban, purchased the first of the $2800 rams with the Baringa Stud, Oberon, securing a semen share.
The 15 month old 99 kilogram ram was described by the Gilmore’s Baringa stud, as having plenty of scale, cleanliness and softness.
Brechin Contracting, Tumby Bay, South Australia, bought the second $2800 ram over the phone.
That ram had the equal second highest eye muscle area (EMA) in the catalogue of 45 square centimetres.
Volume buyers at the sale included Peter and Kim Saunders, Kelly’s Creek, Longreach, Queensland, who secured 10 rams at an average of $1950 while first time buyer of Australian Whites Philip Reardon, Graham Pastoral, Inverell, purchased three rams for an average of $2433 to be trialed over select commercial Dorper ewes.
